If you’re interested in learning more about the solar car and joining the team, right now is a great time to get involved. We are continuing to design and beginning to construct our next vehicle, so there is a lot to do and to learn. The SEVT can’t operate without electrical, mechanical and aeronautical engineers, software designers, fundraisers and project managers.
We will be having information sessions and tours of the shop during the first few weeks of the semester so you can learn more about the team. If you didn’t give us your email at the fall Activities Midway and would like to hear about these events, please let us know.
The SEVT lab is permanently located in N51, next to the MIT Museum.
From 77 Massachusetts Avenue, head North towards Harvard for a quarter mile. On your right will be the MIT Museum. SEVT works behind the museum, accessible from the grey door adjacent to the MIT museum. Fill out a visit request form, and a team member will be glad to show you around.
What background do I need in order to join?
All you need to be is an MIT undergraduate or graduate student and want to work on the team. No experience is necessary!
I’m a Freshman; will I be able to help out?
Definitely! As long as you are willing to put in the time and learn, you will be a valuable member of the team! In the past, freshmen have helped design the solar array, wheel fairings, trailing arm, and other major components, raise money, and put lots of labor into constructing the car.
How can I get involved?
Attend an information session or tour at the start of a semester. If it’s already the middle of the semester, email us to let us know that you’re interested.
